Received her art
education in both, her native Poland (School of Fine Arts and Design in Sedziszow Mlp.)
and in the United States (Caldwell College and Kean University) majored in Visual
Communications. Her work can be found in private collections in Poland and in the United
States including Collection of Johnson&Johnson, Hoyt Art Institute, Harvard University,
Gutman Library, Seaton Hall University, and Kathleen Dolan.
"Nowak's subjects range from psychologically loaded portraits to fantastic phantom-like
figures soaring through atmospheric auras and cosmic spaces. Her style combines elements
of Expressionism, Symbolism and Art Nouveau in a peculiar and original manner, like some
bizarre yet logical collaboration between Edward Munch and Gustav Klimt"
Maurice Tapplinger,
Gallery&Studio, October 1999
"Unlike so many painters of her generation, who distance themselves from their subjects
with a smirking irony, Aleksandra K. Nowak confronts and captures the human figure in all
its vulnerable complexity"
Lawrence Downes,
Gallery&Studio, 2000
